Football National Signing Day Dinner Scheduled for February 6th

The Bobcat Club is hosting the 2019 Football National Signing Day Dinner presented by Texas Regional Bank on February 6. This will be Bobcat fans’ first chance to hear from Head Football Coach Jake Spavital and his new staff. Attendees will see highlight videos and learn about each of the new signees from the Texas State football coaches. Attendees will also get to hear from Coach Spavital on his expectations for spring practice and outlook for the 2019 Bobcat football season.
The event will be held at the Embassy Suites - San Marcos with Brant Freeman serving as the emcee for the evening. Check-in and cocktail hour begins at 6:00 PM and the program will start at 7:00 PM. Tables of 8 guests can be purchased for $225, and individual tickets are $30. Dinner is included.
Coach Spavital comes to Texas State after serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under head coach Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia from 2017-18. During his tenure with the Mountaineers, West Virginia featured one of the most potent offenses in all of college football. In 2018, WVU ranked No. 8 nationally in total offense during the regular season after accumulating 5,724 yards, including 3,939 passing yards and 38 touchdowns. West Virginia ended the regular season ranked No. 15 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the coaches' poll after spending the entire season nationally ranked for the first time since 2007. He has also had previous stops at California, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Houston and Tulsa during his career. Coach Spavital has worked with a number of successful quarterbacks along the way including Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden, Geno Smith, Johnny Manziel, Davis Webb and Will Grier.
