Texas State Men’s Basketball is off to its' best start since the 1950-51 season with a 9-1 record. The Bobcats will go head to head against UT-Rio Grande Valley Dec. 15 with a seven-game winning streak, making it their longest streak since the 1993-94 season, when Texas State entered the NCAA Tournament with a 10-game winning streak.

Freshman forward Alonzo Sule was named Sun Belt’s Player of the Week, making him the third consecutive Bobcat with the honor after the team’s Dec. 8 win against Houston Baptist University. Sule recorded his first career double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, both career-highs, to help TXST defeat the Huskies. It is the first time that a school has had three straight Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards since Jan. 6-23, 2012.

Bobcat fans have a chance to catch the record-keeping team at their next home game on Dec. 29 at Strahan Arena against Howard Payne University. Head Coach Danny Kaspar and his team will begin Sun Belt Conference play on Jan. 3 when they take on the Georgia Southern.
