Distinguished Alumni and Texas State University Heroes, Jerry and Linda Gregg Fields, have been named the 2020 recipients of the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence’s Outstanding Philanthropist Award.

Jerry (B.B.A. ‘69) and Linda (B.S. ‘66) have been benefactors of their respective organizations, Sigma Nu Fraternity and Chi Omega Fraternity, for more than 15 years. While Linda sadly passed away in 2019, the Fields’ generous donations to their organizations continue to support educational programs, renovations, and cultivating the next generation of fraternity and sorority leaders. “Jerry and Linda’s philanthropy is measured by transformational change for thousands of young men and women in advancement of both fraternal organizations,” said Brad Beacham, Sigma Nu Educational Foundation President.

The Fields have supported the university as Texas State Heroes, contributing $1 million or more in lifetime giving, and are Forever Bobcats.  After making the largest single gift in Texas State history to athletics, the Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Bobcat Stadium West Side Complex was named in their honor. Linda’s legacy at Texas State also lives on through the Linda Gregg Fields Strutters Gallery, which opened in 2012 on the first floor of the Bobcat Stadium North Side Complex.

At Texas State, they have demonstrated the generosity that earned them the Outstanding Philanthropist recognition through their donations to the Strutters, the McCoy College of Business Administration, the Department of Athletics, the Wittliff Collections, the Department of Theatre and Dance, and multiple other Texas State programs.

The Foundation for Fraternal Excellence Outstanding Philanthropist Award will be presented on August 25, 2020 during the FFE Awards of Distinction Program.
