Texas State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will produce The Rivals, a play written by Richard Brinsely Sheridan, running Tuesday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 18.
All shows will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, with a 2 p.m. matinee February 18.
The play, a romantic farce of mistaken identity, tells the story of Lydia Languish, who is determined to marry for love — despite the threat of losing her inheritance if she marries without her aunt’s permission. Her seemingly impoverished suitor, however, is not who he claims to be, setting up a classical comedy of manners.
The Rivals is staged under the direction of Michael Costello.
Individual tickets start at $15 for adults and $8 for students, and may be purchased by phone at (512) 245-6500 or online at txstatepresents.com.
