Spring issue of Hillviews magazine now available for download

The new issue of Hillviews is now available in print and digital format. The free digital issue is available at www.hillviews.txstate.edu.

The cover story—“Making beautiful harmony”—looks at the School of Music. The outstanding students and faculty have won awards—including Grammys—and traveled the world sharing their talents.

“A player with purpose” is about Bobcat football player Gabe Schrade. He not only makes his mark on the football field, but his volunteer activities have struck a chord with the Texas State community. Ally Kelly Davidson took her love of exercise, coupled with a winning performance on “American Gladiator” and created “Camp Gladiator” now an exercise boot camp that has spanned the nation.

“From Alkek to the ARC” is the story about the Archives and Research Center (ARC), which opened last fall. It will take about 10 years to fill the ARC’s shelves. There are approximately 600,000 library items that will be transported from Albert B. Alkek Library. Located off campus, the ARC has a reading room and items can be requested and delivered daily to the Alkek or the Round Rock Campus.

Also inside Hillviews, meet Sunny Sweeney, you can hear her on the radio singing her special brand of country music. She earned a degree in public relations but like her friend and classmate Randy Rogers, she is making her mark as an entertainer. Other featured alumni include Michael Rodriguez, a New York talent agent with a roster of clients that include other Bobcats; Dennis Moore, a Blanco businessman who owns and operates his own Old West Town and antique buggy museum; and Lauren Pesqueda, an associate manager of player engagement for the San Antonio Spurs.

Hillviews, published three times a year, is distributed to members of the Alumni Association and the Family Association. The digital edition is available for free to everyone.
