Rip Esselstyn, best-selling author of The Engine 2 Diet, will deliver a lecture on plant-based nutrition September 20 at Texas State University.
The event will be held 7-8 p.m. in the Alkek Theater. It is free and open to the public.
Esselstyn was a three-time All-American at the University of Texas and, following graduation, one of the world's premier triathletes. After joining the Austin Fire Department, he developed a whole-food, plant-based diet at his firehouse to improve a fellow firefighter’s health. He wrote about his experience in The Engine 2 Diet. Esselstyn is currently a Healthy Eating Partner for Whole Foods Market, raising awareness about the benefits of a plant-strong diet.
The lecture is sponsored by University College and the Department of Political Science. For more information, contact jlwells@txstate.edu.
