Texas State University is the best school for performing arts in Texas, and ranked No. 21 in the nation, according to a list compiled by Performing-Art-Schools.com.
The website notes that Texas State offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in four performing arts programs. Among the noteworthy Texas schools outranked by Texas State were Rice University and the University of Texas at Austin. Texas State is also the second-highest ranked school in the South. In particular, Texas State scored highly for its curriculum and faculty.
The Julliard School, in New York City, topped the list. Among Texas schools, Rice University is ranked just behind Texas State at 22, the University of North Texas is ranked 28th and the University of Texas at Austin is ranked 32nd.
Performing-Arts-Schools.com compiled the rankings using a proprietary algorithm, with factors including financial, organizational and metrics, as well as faculty profiles, student retention rates and alumni job prospects. The website uses data collected by schools and issued by the U.S. Department of Education.
