Lt. Col. Manuel Saenz (United States Air Force, retired) will deliver the keynote address during Texas State University's annual Veterans Day Commemoration honoring Bobcat military veterans on Monday, November 13.
With more than 25 years of experience in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, Saenz has been an integral part of the success of Air Force and Army missions over the past two-and-a-half decades. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
Sponsored by the Student Foundation and the Dean of Students Office, the event begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Quad and also includes remarks from Texas State President Denise M. Trauth, a performance by the Bobcat Marching Band and a military flyover.
"It is an honor to be working as the Veterans Day Commemoration director, providing a time to recognize our veterans who have honored America with its highest form of service- wearing the uniform of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard," said Evelyn Ibarra, a senior Student Foundation member from San Antonio majoring in microbiology. "We hope for a big turnout of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community."
A public reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the LBJ Student Center, Room 3-13.1.
