KTSW-FM 89.9, the official radio station of Texas State University, brought home first place for "Best (Audio) Promotion" and second place for "Best Public Service Announcement” from the College Broadcasters, Inc. 2017 National Student Production Awards.

The awards were announced during CBI’s National Student Electronic Media Convention held November 2-4 in San Antonio.

KTSW-FM 89.9 received first place in the “Best Promo” category for its spot titled "Counterspin Promo." The 30-second spot encouraged listeners to tune in to the weekly syndicated talk radio program, Counterspin. The promotion was produced by students Anne Cox, Charles Massey and Patrick Vande Hey.

KTSW-FM 89.9 received second place in "Best PSA" for its "Graduation Confetti" public service announcement. This public service announcement warned students about the environmental dangers caused by throwing confetti on campus. "Graduation Confetti PSA" was produced by students Anne Cox and Andrew Wright.

"KTSW has consistently won awards from CBI," said Daniel Schumacher, the station's general manager. "Our wins this year show that KTSW continues to create content that can compete on a national level with what other college and university radio stations are producing.”

The National Student Production Awards recognized the best in student radio and television production. Students from around the country competed in multiple categories that were judged by industry professionals. CBI received more than 850 entries from student-run radio stations this year.
