Texas State to host international symposium on U.S.-Mexico border

Texas State University’s Center for the Study of the Southwest will host an international symposium focused on the region surrounding the U.S.-Mexico border on Saturday, April 1.

The symposium, called “Landscapes, Peoples, and Institutions: Constructing the Borderlands,” will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Flowers Hall, room 230.

Presentations will be given throughout the day on various topics related to the borderlands region. Morning presentations will be given in Spanish, and presentations in the afternoon will be in English. The symposium will look at the ways in which people of diverse ethnic and geographical origins adapted to the borderlands and each other.

The event is sponsored by the Department of History, the Speaker’s Committee of the Department of History and the Center for the Study of the Southwest.
