Internationally-renowned artists headline 2017 Trombone Symposium

Texas State University will host the 2017 Trombone Symposium February 17-19 in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Registration will open 4 p.m. February 17, with the final performance at 2:15 p.m. February 19.

This year’s Trombone Symposium will feature internationally-renowned trombone artists Tim Smith, 2nd trombonist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Nate Zgonc, 2nd trombonist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Bill Thomas, bass trombonist of the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich, and Las Vegas-based jazz artist, Nate Kimball.

The featured artists will offer clinics and presentations throughout the weekend. Other highlights of the symposium include several performances by collegiate trombone choirs, quartets and three internationally-renowned solo competitions. There will also be the opportunity to purchase musical accessories provided by local and national vendors.

Admission for all symposium events is $25, with group discounts available.  Non-conference public tickets for the events are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets and further information, including the symposium schedule, are available at www.trombonesymposium.com.
