In Brief: Graduate College announces CSGS Outstanding Thesis winners

Texas State University graduate students Sepideh Maleki and Maël Le Noc have been named winners of the Conference of Southern Graduate School’s (CSGS’s) Outstanding Thesis Award. 

Maleki and Le Noc will be recognized at a special awards reception during the upcoming 2017 CSGS meeting in Annapolis, Maryland. Previously, Maleki and Le Noc received the Graduate College’s Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award.

Maleki won her award in mathematics, physical sciences and engineering. Her thesis, “Higher-Order and Tuple-Based Massively-Parallel Prefix Sums,” was directed by Martin Burtscher, professor of computer science. Maleki earned her master’s degree in computer science at Texas State, and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Texas at Austin.

Le Noc win his award in digital scholarship. His thesis, “Family Arrest and Separation During the Holocaust in Italy,” was directed by Alberto Giordano, professor and chair of the Department of Geography. Le Noc earned his master’s degree in geography at Texas State, and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in geography here as well.
