Texas State alumna Sarah Tucker headlines 'Les Noces,' solo recital

Soprano Sarah Tucker will be the featured soloist during two performances of Igor Stravinsky's Les Noces with the Texas State Choral and Division of Dance April 28-29 at Texas State University, and give a recital April 30 as part of the School of Music's Guest Artist Series.

Les Noces performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. both nights in the Performing Arts Center. The recital will be 3:30-5 p.m., also in the Performing Arts Center, benefitting scholarships for students studying vocal performance, choral music educations, bachelor of arts-music and sound recording technology.

Tucker, a Texas State alumna, is a rising star in the opera world. She was a national semifinalist in the 2014 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and recently completed her second year as a member of the Arizona Opera Studio. Tucker received rave reviews for her performance of Micaëla in Utah Opera's production of Georges Bizet's Carmen earlier this year. Prior to that, she was Nelly Nettleton in Arizona Opera’s innovative, multi-lingual production of Arizona Lady, in which she not only sang, but also “danced like a flapper” (Opera Today). Her 2015-16 season included several more role debuts with Arizona Opera including Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazonas, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni as well as her San Francisco Opera debut as Jano in Jenufa.

Les Noces admission is $17 for adults, $15 for children and seniors, and $10 for Texas State students. Recital admission is $12 for adults and $7 for students, senior citizens and military with I.D. All ticket prices include a $2 processing fee.
