Several Texas State University students received awards at the 2017 National University Model Arab League (NUMAL), held in Washington, D.C.
Texas State student Coffey McMurdy was named executive member of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations (NCUSAR) Secretariat for the 2018 season. Additionally, several Texas State students received awards during the event, including McMurdy, Daisy Jaimez, N'Deye Ndiaye and Brittlin Richardson.
The event was sponsored by the NCUSAR and more than 20 universities from around the globe attended. Texas State students were represented on councils including joint defense, Palestinian affairs, environmental affairs, economic affairs, social affairs and refugees.
“As a council we were able to acknowledge ties between economic and social issues and respond appropriately,” said Texas State student Kele Isibor. “Most of all I was happy with the diplomatic interactions between my fellow delegates and I throughout the NUMAL.”
