Meadows Center announces partnership with Mermaid Society SMTX

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University has announced a community partnership with Mermaid Society SMTX to work creatively and collaboratively toward a shared vision in support of the arts and river guardianship.
The goal of the partnership is to bring arts-focused activities to Spring Lake for an innovative approach to further expand the message about environmental awareness and celebrate the arts. Live music events, workshops and yoga at the headwaters of Spring Lake are among the ideas and future events planned.
"We are excited about this new partnership and look forward to working together to bring the arts to The Meadows Center," said July Moreno, founder of Mermaid Society SMTX.
The Meadows Center will provide leadership for the Eco Village at the Aqua Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 16, as part of the 2nd Annual SMTX Mermaid SPLASH (Stewardship, Preservation, Local, Arts, Sustainability and Heritage) Festival. Additionally, The Meadows Center will extend its partnership for the Mermaid "Art" Society Ball, an art-infused extravaganza celebrating the arts at Spring Lake. Proceeds from the Mermaid Ball support the Mermaid Week Downtown Parade, SPLASH and other events that are part of Mermaid Week SMTX, a community platform to foster pride in San Marcos through citywide events.
