The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University will put on the Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet April 19-24 on the Theatre Center main stage.
The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Directed by Amelia Bahr, the play follows two star-crossed lovers who fight against their families and social forces in their passion, risking everything for love.
“Romeo and Juliet isn’t just about these two lovers,” said Bahr. “It is about how our bad decisions can catch up with those around us and how forgiveness cannot lighten the consequences from our past actions.”
A dark character narrates the tale as a city goes up in flames in the midst of rage and hatred and two young people are caught in the middle.
Individual tickets start at $15 for adults and $8 for students, and may be purchased by phone at (512) 245-6500 or online at www.txstatepresents.com.
