Texas State University hosts Prairie View A&M in the football team’s home opener 6 p.m. Saturday, September 12, and fans should be aware of this season’s parking and tailgating guidelines.
Vehicles parked in the Mill Street Lot, Coliseum Lot, Stadium East and Stadium West lots must relocate their vehicles by 6 p.m. Friday, September 11. Vehicles with permits may park in any non-reserved location on campus. The Springtown Center will not be open for game day parking this year, and anyone parking there will be towed.
Texas State has several options available this year for individuals with a valid state handicap accessible permit who require accessible parking for home football games. Fully accessible Bobcat Shuttle service is available from campus. Paratransit is available from the Mill Street parking lot. Anyone needing such service should call (512) 353-0598 for more information.
Game day shuttle service will be provided for home football games starting three hours before kick-off until one hour after the game’s conclusion. Football shuttles will pick up at the LBJ Student Center, San Jacinto Hall (across from Wood Street garage), and at the Edward Gary Parking Garage, and drop off on Charles Austin Drive at the Baseball Stadium. All buses are wheelchair accessible.
Real time tracking of the Football Shuttle can be found at http://txstate.doublemap.com/. Free parking is available in Matthews Garage and Woods Street Garage. Paid parking is available in the LBJ Student Center Garage and the Edward Gary Street Garage.
Tailgating is available in the Strahan Coliseum parking lot located on the corner of Aquarena Springs Drive and Charles Austin Drive. Fans should enter the lot from Aquarena Springs Drive on the south end. All other entrances into this lot will be closed on game day prior to the game.
The lot will open at 8 a.m. The cost for vehicles and tailgates is $10 per parking space. Fans may purchase as many spaces as they need for their tailgate setup. Spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis and will not be reserved. RV’s are allowed to set up in the lot the day of game day at the flat rate of $35, which provides three spaces.
The freshman tailgate zone is located in an area of the coliseum lot closest to the stadium and will be open from noon to 5 p.m.
Fans are asked to dispose of all trash and recyclable goods in designated receptacles located in the tailgating areas or pack it out. Recycling, trash and hot coal containers will be available throughout the lot. The disposal of grease, hot coals, or hazardous materials onto the grounds or in storm drains is prohibited.
To enhance the tailgate experience, Texas State asks that fans make every effort to be safe. To help ensure a fun, safe, and responsible time, fans are encouraged to please drink responsibly, pick up all trash around tailgate area, recycle whenever possible, dispose of ashes and hot coals properly, stay hydrated, respect others by not disrupting other tailgates with loud or vulgar audio and follow all guidelines set by the tailgating committee and Texas State.
Additional rules and more information about tailgating can be found at the tailgating website www.txstatebobcats.com/sports/2012/7/13/FB_0713122057.aspx.
