In Brief: Texas State academic advisors recognized at annual conference

The Texas Academic Advising Network (TEXAAN) hosted its annual conference Feb. 18-20 in Corpus Christi where two Texas State University faculty members were elected to the board of officers, and four faculty members recognized for their advising abilities.
Temple Carter, senior lecturer for the University College was elected to serve as president of TEXAAN for a one-year term while Claudia TreviƱo, academic adviser for the PACE Advising Center, was elected to serve as secretary for a two-year term.
TEXAAN also recognized Staci Perez Strauch with the outstanding academic advisor award. Jacqueline Moczygemba was recognized with the faculty advisor recognition award and Jeanette Pacheco and Marc Jimenez were awarded best in state for their presentation, "The Millennial Experience."
Texas State employees authored 11 of the 28 presentations submitted for the 2015 TEXAAN conference. Pacheco and Jimenez will represent Texas at the 2016 National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Region 7 Conference with "The Millennial Experience."
TEXAAN offers its members opportunities to participate in professional development activities and promotes the professional development of academic advisors in higher education while offering networking opportunities to its members.
