Award-winning author Amy Hempel to read at Wittliff, KAP House

Award-winning author Amy Hempel will hold a reading and book signing at Texas State University's Wittliff Collections March 5 at 3:30 p.m. and at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in Kyle March 6 at 7:30 p.m.

The events are free and open to the public.

Amy Hempel's The Collected Stories of Amy Hempel won the 2007 Ambassador Book Award and was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Hempel won the 2008 Rea Award and the 2009 PEN/MALAMUD Award for the short story. She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the United States Artists Foundation. Her stories have appeared in Harper’s, GQ, The Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize. Hempel has taught writing at Bennington College, Sarah Lawrence College, Princeton University, Duke University, Columbia University and now teaches writing at Harvard University. She lives in New York City.

The event is part of the Lindsey Literary Series and is sponsored by the Department of English at Texas State, the Burdine Johnson Foundation and the Wittliff Collections.
