Literary Education Conference focuses on 'Power of Diverse Literature'

Award-winning local authors Don Tate and Guadalupe Garcia-McCall will be the keynote speakers at the Literary Education Conference event at Texas State University 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 18.

The conference will focus on The Power of Diverse Literature for Children and Young Adults and share teaching strategies to pre-service teachers and students. 

Texas State students, faculty, staff and members of the public are welcome to attend the conference.  This event will be held at the Centennial Teaching Theatre and is hosted by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Central Texas Writing Project in the College of Education.

Pre-registration for the event is $10 for students and $20 for general admission and ends Oct. 10. The prices will increase to $20 for students and $40 for general admission after pre-registration closes. 

Community teachers and faculty from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction will lead the breakout sessions. The keynote speakers will hold a book signing with a question and answer session at the event.
