Wittliff Collections hosts award-winning author Phillip Lopate

The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University will welcome author Phillip Lopate for a reading and book signing on Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m. and at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in Kyle on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
Lopate is the author of four essay collections: Bachelorhood, Against Joie de Vivre, Portrait of My Body and Portrait Inside My Head. He is also the author of two novels, three poetry collections and a memoir, To Show and Tell: the Craft of Literary Nonfiction. He is the editor of the essay anthology, The Art of the Personal Essay.
Lopate has received a Texas Institute of Letters award in the “best nonfiction book of the year” for Bachelorhood, and was a finalist for the PEN “best essay book of the year” for Portrait of My Body.
Lopate directs the nonfiction graduate program at Columbia University.
The Burdine Johnson Foundation, the Wittliff Collections, the Lindsey Reading Series and the Texas State Department of English sponsor this event.
