Texas State University's efforts to stabilize the cut bank at the outflow of Sessom Creek in the recreation area just below Saltgrass Steakhouse are set to begin the week of June 16.
In the course of about 10 days, the university plans to set limestone slabs along the banks of the creek, which will prevent further erosion of the bank’s edge and protect the cypress trees growing there. A few of the damaged scrub trees and brush near the outflow will be removed to further enhance the beauty of the recreation area.
Brief interruptions in traffic flow will occur between the hours of 7-8 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. daily in the early stages of the project in order to get equipment and materials in place. All efforts will be made toward the least amount of disturbance to normal campus routine.
For the duration of this project, this area will be off limits to all but the construction staff.
