In Brief: Director of Housing honored at ACUHO-I national conference

Rosanne Proite, director of housing and residential life, received the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I) Herstory Award at its recent annual meeting, held in Washington, DC.

The Herstory Award honors past women presidents of ACUHO-I and is presented to recognize an outstanding woman professional who has served the housing profession through courage, leadership, forging new paths as pioneers, honor and commitment.

As the director of housing and residential life at Texas State, Proite is responsible for the overall operation of the housing program that includes traditional-style, suite-style and apartment-style on-campus housing units. Beginning with the Fall 2014 semester, Texas State will house almost 7,000 residents.

Proite has been at Texas State for seven years, and has a total of 35 years of experience on campuses including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Iowa, Kansas State University and Florida Atlantic University. Proite has extensive experience in development and delivery of housing master plans, new construction and significant renovation of existing facilities.

Proite received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, her master’s degree from Western Illinois University and Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
