Print magazine names Texas State among best design MFA programs

The MFA in graphic design program at Texas State University has been named among the nation's best by Print magazine.

The survey of MFA programs appears in the August issue, and includes such renowned schools as Maryland Institute College of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, Yale School of Art, School of Visual Arts in New York, School of the Art Institute of Chicago and California School of the Arts.

"That's pretty heady company," said Michael Niblett, director of the School of Art and Design at Texas State. "Print magazine is one of the most respected publications in the graphic design industry."

Texas State is cited for a curriculum promoting "advanced study in the areas of web design, UX, interactive, data visualization and information design, typography, editorial and experimental book design, art direction, environmental graphic design, sustainable packaging and design for social impact." Distance learning is encouraged by the program's non-traditional structure, which also accommodates working professionals.
