Musical theatre program presents shamefully silly 'Adrift in Macao'

The Texas State University Department of Theatre and Dance will perform “Adrift in Macao” Oct. 8-13 at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage of the Theatre Complex.
Ticket prices range from $8-$18 and student tickets are available for $8 with a valid ID. Tickets are available now via the Texas State box office or ww.txstatepresents.com beginning Oct. 1.
“Adrift in Macao” was written by Tony-winning playwright Christopher Durang and the music was scored by Peter Melnick. The play is set in 1952 in Macao, China and is loving parody of film noir, the classical Hollywood film period known for its sensual crime dramas. With shamefully silly lyrics, talented performers and a lethally catchy score this musical parody is bound to please audiences of all ages.
Following the evening performances of Oct. 11 and 12, Durang will participate in a discussion session with the audience, moderated by Kaitlin Hopkins, director of the production and head of the musical theatre program at Texas State.
