Texas State's Phoenix Saxophone Quartet wins Down Beat awards

Texas State University’s Phoenix Saxophone Quartet has won two awards from Down Beat Magazine.
The Down Beat Student Music Awards are given out by the jazz music magazine for performances in jazz education. To win the award, students must submit their recordings to the Down Beat website. The quartet won the undergraduate classical group award. Josh Weisbrod-Torres, baritone saxophonist of the group, won the award for undergraduate classical soloist.

About Phoenix Saxophone Quartet
The quartet is an undergraduate classical group part of the Texas State Wind Symphony Saxophone Section. The group was formed in 2011 by four students from Texas State’s School of Music. The group studies under the direction of Todd Oxford, Texas State saxophone instructor.
