Amanda Hepner, a senior marketing and management major in the McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University, has been named American Marketing Association (AMA) Student Marketer of the Year.
Hepner was honored during the 35th Annual AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, beating out candidates from more than 360 AMA chapters located throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Hepner, Round Rock native, has been an active member of the Texas State AMA since the fall of 2010, and played an active role in this year’s Donate Life America Texas State AMA CASE and competing Strategic Allocation of Business Resources (SABRE) teams.
“The award focuses on the ways AMA Collegiate members demonstrate excellence and commitment to AMA and their surrounding community,” said Hepner. “Applicants were evaluated on service to AMA, overall impact of service, leadership, academic excellence, commitment to professional development, and essay responses. I was selected among students from over 320 other universities (9,300 student members) throughout the nation including Canada, Mexico, and the United States.”
During the 35th International AMA Collegiate Conference, which took place March 21-23, the Texas State AMA Sales Team, including Charlie Downing and Rudolph Garrison, took 2nd out of 51 teams, besting Texas State AMA’s success in previous years. The Texas State AMA CASE team took 2nd, and the Texas State AMA SABRE team took 6th. Texas State AMA was also named a Gold Chapter, tying it for second place internationally.
