Visiting artist Jennifer Arnone of Boulder, Colo., will perform an informal presentation of music and dance from Bali, Indonesia, March 28 at Texas State University.
The performance will be 5 p.m. in the School of Music Building courtyard on campus. The event is part of the Common Experience program's Global Odyssey initiative at Texas State.
Arnone has studied Balinese dance in Bali. The music and dance of Bali is an experience of harmony with nature and the spirit world. Arnone will lead students of the division of dance in a demonstration of Balinese traditional dance, accompanied by the dazzling sounds of the Texas State Balinese Gamelan ensemble.
The Common Experience is a year-long initiative of Texas State University-San Marcos designed to cultivate a common intellectual conversation across the campus, to enhance student participation in the intellectual life of the campus, and to foster a sense of community across our entire campus and extended community.
The Common Experience theme for 2012-2013 is "A Global Odyssey: Exploring Our Connections to the Changing World," an interdisciplinary theme that affects all departments, offices, and organizations at Texas State—thus allowing for a cross-disciplinary, cross-campus, and multi-organizational conversation.
