Texas State honored as 'top producer' of U.S. Fulbright Program

Texas State University has been named a top producer in the U.S. Fulbright Scholars program for 2012-2013 by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars.

This is the second time Texas State has made the prestigious list: The university was also recognized as a top producer for 2010-2011. The Fulbright Award is a competitive international educational exchange program sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Top producing institutions in all Carnegie Classifications were highlighted in a recent edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education. Texas State made the list with two Fulbright recipients: Vincent Lopes, a professor in the Department of Biology who will serve his Fulbright at Bremen University, Bremen, Germany, Oct. 2012-Feb. 2013 and Michael O'Malley, associate professor of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School Psychology, who served his Fulbright at Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Santiago, Chile, Aug. 2012-Jan. 2013.

For more than 65 years the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, a division of the Institute of International Education, has served as the collaborating agency for the U.S. Department of State in administering the Fulbright Scholar Program. The worldwide success of the Fulbright Scholar Program has been built on the talent, commitment and professionalism of scholars who have served universities and research institutions in more than 155 countries.
