School of Music hosts 'Innovative Use of Technology' symposium

The School of Music at Texas State University-San Marcos will host a symposium on the "Innovative Use of Technology in Music Instruction" Sept. 27-29.
Leigh Kallestad make presentations of SmartMusic software Sept. 27 during the Musician’s Forum at 6:15 p.m. and Somos Musicos at 7:30 p.m., both in the Music Building Recital Hall. On Sept. 28, Kallestad will present SmartMusic demonstrations to a variety of classes on campus. On Sept. 29, the School of Music will host a SmartMusic workshop for area music educators in the Music Building Recital Hall and the School of Music computer lab.
Kallestad holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal and instrumental music education from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree in music education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. With MakeMusic, Kallestad works with college music education programs, presents SmartMusic online clinics, as well as clinic presentations for music conventions and school in-service workshops.
