Juilliard, Texas State honor First Amendment in joint concert

Juilliard returns to Texas State for “Let Freedom Ring,” a joint concert performance commemorating late newspaper columnist Molly Ivins and the First Amendment as part of the annual “Juilliard Joins Texas State” show on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium at Texas State University-San Marcos.
The concert is free and open to the public and will feature distinguished alumnus Wayne Oquin, professional actors Barbara Chisholm and Eugene Lee and Texas State and Juilliard students, faculty and alumni.
For the sixth annual event, Juilliard faculty member and Texas State alum Wayne Oquin will lead the award-winning Texas State Wind Ensemble and musicians from the Juilliard School in a joint performance of his own Tower Ascending. The concert will also include performances from actor Barbara Chisholm as Molly Ivins in an excerpt from Red-Hot Patriot: The Kick-ass Wit of Molly Ivins and actor Eugene Lee as Martin Luther King Jr. in an excerpt from I Have a Dream and I See the Promised Land.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 935 and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
