Texas State hosts 29th Annual Barbara Jordan Media Awards

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University-San Marcos and the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities will host the 29th Annual Barbara Jordan Media Awards on April 28 in the Ballroom at the LBJ Student Center on campus.
The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. with comedian Zach Anner as the keynote speaker. Anner attended the University of Texas at Austin where he worked on a mocumentary, documentary and sketch comedy show. He currently has his own television show on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The winners of the 2012 Barbara Jordan Media Awards are professional journalists and journalism students who produced material that accurately and positively reports on individuals with disabilities.
The stories were produced and submitted in 2011. There were a variety of categories, including entertainment, Internet, photojournalism, documentary and several feature series.
The Office of Disability Services and the Division of Student Affairs at Texas State are co-sponsoring the event.
