The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation (TBHF) will award 19 scholarships to college students across Texas, including Texas State University-San Marcos student Brian Spencer, on Oct. 30.
Spencer is a graduate student pursuing a master’s in business administration at Texas State. He is currently a region sales manager for DHL Global Mail, a franchisee of InXpress in Austin, and a real estate agent for TeamPrice Real Estate. Spencer said he has been involved with several small businesses over the last 14 years to help those just getting started since he knows how hard it can be.
“The supply chain world is a scary place when you are just starting out and small businesses make many mistakes along the way while having very little leverage with the largest service providers,” said Spencer. “This was part of my motivation to help these businesses grow and be more informed along the way. My thought was, if they continue to grow, then so will my business.”
While celebrating its 30th anniversary, TBHF will be hosting a luncheon at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston for the scholarship winners. Each student will be receiving a $10,000 scholarship to pursue their degrees. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to Texas students pursuing a degree.
“The scholarship recognition was an absolutely amazing honor,” said Spencer. “It is truly a great organization of business professionals comprised of many Texas business leaders whom I have looked up to for many years.”
