Child development expert Marcy Guddemi to lecture at Texas State

Marcy Guddemi, executive director of the Gesell Institute of Child Development, will present a lecture “How Societal Pressures Are Affecting Our Schools and Workplaces” on Oct. 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Texas State University-San Marcos.

The lecture will take place in the Teaching Theatre on the 4th floor of the LBJ Student Center. The lecture will be available to the Round Rock Higher Education Center via telecast at the Avery Building in room 252.

Guddemi, a former Texas State professor, is a widely recognized expert in early childhood education and assessment. The Gesell Institute, located on the Yale campus, is focused on educating and supporting teachers and parents in order to ensure the future success of all children, in the United States and abroad.

The event is open to the general public, but education, psychology, family and consumer science, medical, criminal justice, communications and social work majors are encouraged to attend.

The lecture is sponsored by University Lecture Series, the Common Experience 2011-2012, Center for Children and Families, College of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Applied Arts, School of Family and Consumer Sciences, Department of Criminal Justice, College of Liberal Arts, Department of Psychology, university student organizations and community and professional groups.
