Poet Michael Dickman to give readings at Texas State, Porter House

Michael Dickman, author of poetry collections The End of the West and Flies, will give a reading and book signing 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Texas State University-San Marcos and 7:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 11 at the Katherine Anne Porter House in Kyle.
The reading will be held at the Wittliff Collections on the 7th floor of the Alkek Library on campus.
Dickman’s poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The American Poetry Review, Field, Tin House and other journals. He has also been profiled in Poets & Writers and The New Yorker. His second book of poetry, Flies, was selected to receive the 2010 James Laughlin Award. He has received fellowships from the Michener Center for Writers in Austin, the Fine Arts Work Center and the Vermont Studio Center. Dickman was also awarded a Hodder Fellowship from Princeton for 2009-2011.
The event is sponsored by the Burdine Johnson Foundation, the Wittliff Collections and the Texas State Department of English. The readings are free and open to the public. Books will be for sale by the University Bookstore.
