Common Experience hosts ‘Saying the unsayable’ poetry event

The Common Experience, the Department of English and the University Honors Program at Texas State University-San Marcos will present “Saying the Unsayable: Poems and the Act of Expression” Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in Lampasas Hall.
The two-hour event, free and open to the public, will begin with live music by the Texas State jazz group “The Big Sound Quartet.”
Poetry readings will start at 7 p.m., with English department faculty members John Blair, Cyrus Cassells, Ogaga Ifowodo, Roger Jones, Kathleen Peirce and Steve Wilson each reading poems on the subject, “saying the unsayable.”
The event is part of the Texas State Common Experience theme for 2011-2012, “Freedoms: The First Amendment.” Refreshments will be provided.
