The Center for P-16 Initiatives at Texas State University-San Marcos will be hosting Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Mondays at San Marcos High School from now until the end of March for those people seeking financial aid for the 2011-2012 academic years.
The federal government supplies millions of dollars each year in the forms of loans and grants to help people pay for college, and filling out the FAFSA is the first step in this process. The sessions are held from 4-6 p.m. every Monday in the Career Center.
FAFSA Mondays are open to the public and everybody from graduating seniors to returning adult students are encouraged to attend. Attendees will be assisted in filling out the application for federal financial aid, and be given advice on some best practices with regards to pursuing higher education. It is helpful to have 2010 tax information handy when filling out the FAFSA. Students under the age of 24 will need their parents’ financial information to complete the application.
The Center for P-16 Initiatives is also working in conjunction with the Austin Chamber of Commerce to bring FAFSA Saturdays to the many outlying communities around San Marcos and Austin. The help sessions will be held from 8:30am-12:30pm at varying locations. Contact the center at (512) 245-8192 for further information.
