Texas State Alumni Association honors four

The Alumni Association of Texas State University-San Marcos has honored four with the Alumni Achievement Award.

The Alumni Achievement Award winners for 2011 are Agnes and David Hubbard of Boerne, Greg Schwartz of San Antonio and Judith Porter Smith of San Antonio.

Agnes and David Hubbard are both 1983 graduates with degrees in horticulture and agriculture animal science, respectively. They were honored for their work with the Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries, which currently delivers sustenance and hope to more than 2,800 families representing more than 8,260 people in seven Hill Country counties and northern Bexar County.

Greg Schwartz is a 1982 graduate with a degree in management information systems. He is being honored for his work as chief information officer for USAA and senior vice president of information technology services. As CIO, he oversees the IT systems behind the multiple channels used to serve USAA’s more than 7.4 million members.

Judith Porter Smith is a 1966 graduate with a degree in home economics. She is being honored for her extensive work in developing nutrition and food science and individual and family living curricula for the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio.

The Alumni Achievement Award honors Texas State graduates who are distinguished and prominent in their chosen business, profession or life work on a local, state or regional level. Recognition from their contemporaries at one of those levels enhances the nomination. Recipients are of such integrity, stature, demonstrated ability and renown that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of Texas State take pride in, and are inspired by their recognition.
