Accounting students offer free tax preparation service

Accounting students at Texas State University-San Marcos are providing free tax preparation services to Bobcat students as well as San Marcos residents this spring through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).
This program is coordinated through the IRS and offers free tax preparation services to individuals who earned less than $50,000 in 2010.
In order to have taxes prepared by the accounting students, residents should visit McCoy Hall room 125 on Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m. or Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. Feb. 1-March 31 (excluding Spring Break).
The following items are required:
- Driver's License
- Social Security Card (copy or original)
- W-2, 1099, 1098, etc.
- Any additional documentation required to prepare your taxes
