Acclaimed author, poet Nick Flynn to hold readings

Award-winning author Nick Flynn will hold a reading and book signing 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at Texas State University-San Marcos, and another 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at the Katherine Anne Porter House.
The Feb. 24 signing will be held in the Wittliff Collections on the 7th floor of Alkek Library on campus. The Katherine Anne Porter House is located at 508 Center Street in Kyle. The event is cosponsored by the Wittliff Collections, the Therese Kayser Lindsey Reading Series and the Texas State University Department of English. It is free and open to the public.
Nick Flynn’s Another Bullshit Night in Suck City won the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for the Art of the Memoir, and has been translated into 13 languages. He is also the author of two books of poetry, Some Ether, which won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award, and Blind Huber. His second memoir, The Ticking is the Bomb: A Memoir of Bewilderment, was recently released by Norton. He has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Library of Congress, the Amy Lowell Trust and the Fine Arts Work Center. He was an artistic collaborator on the film “Darwin’s Nightmare,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for best feature documentary in 2006.
