Dance company presents multicultural ‘Merge and Emerge’

Merge Dance Company will present “Merge and Emerge” 7:30 p.m. March 3-4 in Evans Auditorium at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Merge Dance Company is a touring, multicultural student ensemble at Texas State.
“Merge and Emerge” features multimedia performances weaving social and political art with a sense of humor and clarity of aesthetic. Choreography includes works by Texas State students and faculty, as well as invited artists from Germany.
“Our dance company offers artistic entertainment while bringing social and political issues to light,” said Ana Baer-Carrillo, director of Merge. “We encourage all of our dancers to use their diverse backgrounds and ideas to create a mosaic of different cultures and experiences and turn them into a cohesive statement in the form of a dance.”
The company is also under the direction of Pat Stone.
Merge Dance Company is a student modern dance company founded in spring 2009. The company is an exclusive touring ensemble originated with the goal of recruiting populations who reflect Texas State’s multicultural goals.
Merge consists of Texas State's ethnically diverse dance students. The company is committed to presenting, on and off campus, multimedia performances with an aesthetic that weaves social/political art with quality entertainment.
