The Texas State University-San Marcos University College Advising Center will host the 2011 Majors Fair: Freedom to Explore on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom.

The majors fair is an annual event designed to help students make well-informed decisions when selecting a major. The fair provides accurate information and an opportunity to explore undergraduate majors, minors and certificate programs offered at Texas State.

Those interested are welcome to participate and network with faculty, staff and upperclassmen while enjoying free refreshments, or entering a raffle for prizes.

“Knowing about the admission into majors and the requirements for completing the majors will help students in their decision-making process,” said Amy Beck, supervisor of academic advising. “Students should take advantage of having all the resources available at the same time and place and should look forward to having fun in the process.”

The University College Advising Center understands the process of selecting a major can be an extremely challenging task for incoming students. University College assists exploratory students through this process by providing informative and engaging programs to help them explore and select a major of their choice.
