Prince to resign as advancement vice president

 Becky Prince, vice president for University Advancement at Texas State University-San Marcos, has announced she will resign that position effective January 19, 2011. She has accepted a position as director of development for the Dallas Museum of Art.

 Prince joined Texas State in 2004 as director of development. She became executive director of the Texas State Development Foundation in May of 2005 and was promoted to vice president for University Advancement in June of 2006.

 Texas State President Denise Trauth said, “I am very sorry that Becky Prince is leaving Texas State University. However, she is taking advantage of a great opportunity and I am very happy for her. During her six years at our university, Becky has made enormous contributions to University Advancement. She will always be a part of our Bobcat family.”

 Tom Kowalski, Development Foundation chair, said, “Becky Prince has done a fine job on behalf of Texas State. She has helped to establish a strong foundation for the Pride in Action Campaign and helped set the course for the future for our university We wish her well as she pursues a new direction.”

 Jerry Fields, a major donor to the university and co-chair of the university’s Pride in Action Campaign, said, “I am extremely blessed that I have had the opportunity to work so closely with such a talented individual as Becky Prince. What she has brought to Texas State with her insight to development and her always thinking big – and then even bigger – is exactly what this university has needed.”

 Chuck Dicker, President of the Texas State Alumni Association Board of Directors, said, “This past year, Becky served as interim director of the Alumni Association during a period of change and transition. Her dedication and leadership were instrumental in positioning the Alumni Association to better serve the university, our students and the 133,000 Texas State alumni. We will miss Becky and wish her all the best.”

 Trauth said that a search to replace Prince will begin immediately. Ted McKinnon, Assistant Vice President for Development, has been named interim vice president for University Advancement. Ted has been with the division of University Advancement for 13 years.
