The stars align for a distinctly Texas music evening

This year's Stars of Texas Music Legacy series will present Texas State University-San Marcos alumnus Randy Rogers, who will share the stage with the Trishas and Walt and Tina Wilkins for an evening of unique, Texas-inspired music.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Glade Outdoor Theatre (Moore St., west campus).

Randy Rogers is one of the top singer-songwriters on today's music scene. A native of Cleburne, Rogers began writing songs at the age of 11. His influences range from Willie Nelson and Don Williams to the Beatles and Pearl Jam. He is an accomplished guitar and piano player and has performed as a sideman for many notable musicians. His days as a sideman ended while attending Texas State in the 1990s after performing some of his own songs at an open mic night at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos.

The Trishas are a quartet composed of Jamie Wilson, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee and Savannah Welch. Their style is described as indefinable, borrowing from numerous varieties of American styles with a bluegrass background. Walt and Tina Wilkins, likewise, are a San Antonio-based group whose music combines story songs with hard-edged vocals and guitar.

The Stars of Texas Music Legacy Series is an annual production presented through the collaborative efforts of Gary Hartman, director of the Center for Texas Music History and Richard Cheatham, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State.

Limited parking for the event is available on Moore St. Alternate handicap parking is available at the Recycling Center accessed on either the Moore St. or Lindsey St. entrances with access to the venue provided by small transport. The Glade Outdoor Theatre has bench seating or attendees can bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and sit on the hillside. In the instance of rain, the event will be relocated to Evans Auditorium.
