Author Fred Bonner to give 18th annual AALC keynote address

Fred Bonner, author of Diverse Millennial Students in College, will serve as the keynote speaker at the 18th annual African American Leadership Conference at Texas State University-San Marcos Sept. 9-12.
Themed “Replenish the Leader to Sustain Excellence for a Greater Tomorrow,” the AALC will be held in the LBJ Student Center ballroom on campus.
Bonner, the author and editor of numerous publications, is a professor and serves as Associate Dean of Faculties at Texas A&M University. Featured in countless publications and the recipient of national awards, Bonner is a foremost expert on the collegiate and leadership trends of minority students. He will provide participants with data supporting the continual development of leadership and will challenge each individual to use their skills to effect positive change in their environments and around the globe.
“We feel that Dr. Bonner’s dynamic character and charismatic speaking style from the perspective of a seasoned veteran in higher education make him the perfect fit for our conference and our students,” said Terence Parker, AALC advisor and assistant director of retention management and planning. “This conference is truly the place to be.”
In addition to the keynote speech, the four-day event will feature a talent showcase, a gospel extravaganza featuring local and regional artists, workshop sessions and opportunities for attendees to connect with students and the university. Some of the topics that will be addressed in the informative workshops are spirituality, mentoring, financial planning and personal empowerment.
