Orchesis Dance Company will stage two performances for its 2010 production of “Side Show” March 19-20 at 7:30 p.m. in Jowers studio 178 at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Tickets will be available to the general public and students for $5, cash only, at the door.
An annual concert put on by Texas State’s Orchesis Dance Company, “Side Show” is an eclectic dance performance showcasing a variety of styles, cultures, and viewpoints. The 10-piece show will feature mostly the work of Orchesis members, with guest performances by other dance groups and dance department students.
Reese Rosario, associate artistic director for Orchesis, said “Side Show” is a “great way to support dance at Texas State, learn about modern dance as well as other types of dancing, fulfill requirements to see a show, and to simply enjoy the art of dance.”
Orchesis is a student-run modern dance company that provides dancers with a creative outlet and a place to practice their craft. The group also takes part in the continuing growth of Texas State and the San Marcos community. Volunteering, donating, and sponsoring scholarships are among the company’s activities.
