Texas State composer's work selected for CD release

 composition by Dimitar Ninov, a music theory faculty member at Texas State University-San Marcos, has been selected for the prestigious Millennium Project: Made in the Americas CD (Set 2).

ERMMedia awarded Ninov a recording contract for A Lonely Man’s Prayer, selected from more than 475 submissions. Ninov said the violin and piano piece represents an attempt to evoke the feelings of a man who, having fallen in a state of depression, feels lonely and undesired; in his despair, he turns to the Creator with a prayer. ERMMedia’s CD release is available worldwide.

Ninov is a Bulgarian-born composer and music theorist who is the 2009 chairman of the board of directors of the National Association of Composers USA (NACUSA). Besides teaching music theory and aural skills at Texas State, Ninov serves as concert coordinator of the NACUSA Texas Chapter, as board member of the College Music Society South Central Chapter and as music director at St. Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock.

Some of Ninov’s key¬board music is published by the FJH Music Company. In 2007, Ninov’s piano piece “Golden Leaves” was in¬cluded in volume six of the Festival Collection – the FJH’s most representative piano series “Succeeding with the Masters,” which selectively features music from the Baroque era to the 21st century. In addition, his piano album was chosen for the 2007 Music Teachers’ Association of California's “Certificate of Merit” syllabus.

Ninov holds a doctoral degree in composition from the University of Texas (2003) and master’s de¬grees in music theory (1992) and composition (1996) from the National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has previously taught music theory and ear training at the University of Texas and at the University of South Carolina.
