International award-winning singer/composer to perform at Texas State

Juanita Ulloa, an international award-winning singer/composer and musician, will lead in the concert “Latina American Tapestry” at Texas State University-San Marcos Friday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

The performance will be held in the Music Building Recital Hall on campus. Ulloa will be performing classical and folk songs from Spain and Latin America.

"At the School of Music, we are able to bring together an amazing collection of songs in a 'tapestry-like' repertoire,” said Ulloa, who is a member of the School of Music faculty. “We are excited to share for the first time in the United States, through Texas State.”

Ulloa's commitment to artistic excellence and to explore Latin American themes, music and language is made evident through her previous CD releases. These include the children's series, “Canta Conmigo” (Sing with Me), a five-volume NAPPA, iParenting Media (Disney), Parent's Choice and Parent's Council award winning series.

Ulloa received bachelor’s degree in Music from Yale University and a master’s degree in Music from UC Berkeley and additional post-graduate training from Nice Conservatory in Nice, France. She is also a professor of Hispanic vocal music and ethnomusicology at Vista College in Texas.

Tickets for this event are $5 for general admission and $3 for students/seniors.
