University College offers Majors Fair for students

The Texas State University-San Marcos University College Advising Center will host its Majors Fair 2009: A MAJOR Hollywood Affair Oct. 6, 2009, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the LBJ Student Center Ballroom.

The Majors Fair is designed to assist students make well-informed decisions in selecting a major by providing accurate information about the academic programs offered at Texas State. The event will have an informal atmosphere with a Hollywood theme that allows students to gather information about majors, minors, certificates and career options in one location. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with a variety of representatives from departments around the Texas State campus.

“Knowing about the admission into majors and the requirements for completing the majors will help students in their decision-making process. Being able to talk with faculty in the major will also give students the opportunity to ask about job possibilities for those who complete the degree,” said Amy Beck, supervisor of academic advising.

“Students should take advantage of having all the resources available at the same time and place and should look forward to having fun in the process,” she said.

The University College Advising Center understands that the process of selecting a major can be an extremely challenging task for incoming students. University College assists undecided students through this process by providing informative and engaging programs to help them explore and select a major of their choice.
