Homeyer guest speaker, patron at Malaysian conference

Linda E. Homeyer, professor in the Professional Counseling Programme at Texas State University-San Marcos, was a speaker at the commencement of the Selangor Association of Play and Expressive Therapy in June in Malaysia.

The instigation of the professional association SAPET was inspired by the techniques of Play and Expressive Therapy. PET incorporates the use of various modalities, such as art, music, expressive writing, creative visualization, symbol work, clay, sandplay, bio-energetics, role play, self-awareness exercises, personal narratives, relaxation and meditation to aid children in dealing with emotional and psychological problems.

Homeyer is a patron of the newly founded SAPET. She has provided training for mental health professionals in Malaysia for the past five years.
